There are plenty of things to do in Puerto Rico, here is a handy list of suggestions of things to do in the resort when you are on holiday.

  • relax at the beach
  • do some watersports

  • laze away the day at Amadores Beach Club or Chester Beach Club
  • stroll, roll, jog or run along the beach promenade
  • take a boat trip, see whales and dolphins

  • go shopping at one of the shopping centers

Puerto Rico is an excellent resort for day time activities, and number one activity is to visit the 2 beaches in the resort, Puerto Rico Beach or Amadores Beach where you will be able to relax and enjoy the weather in Gran Canaria.
In the two areas you will find plenty of restaurants and bars to chill out in the sun and have a cold drink while working on your tan. If you want to do something different on the beach you will be able to rent a pedalo, a jet ski or even go on a diving course in Gran Canaria, allowing you to explore the coast.

The weather in Puerto Rico makes it very pleasant for holiday makers to have a jog or a run around the resort, not to forget the spectacular promenade that joins Puerto Rico Beach with Amadores and viceversa along the coast.

At Puerto Rico Harbours you will be able to join one of the several excursions available for you in the resort, you can just get a water taxi that will take you from one resort to another, go on an excursion to see dolphins and whales or if you like fishing you can book a day to go deep sea fishing in one of the boats.

A day at the Gloria Palace Amadores Spa and Thalasso is one of the best options for a cloudy day or for a special treat for you and your partner.

  • enjoy some local cuisine
  • have a night out a bar, sing karaoke, dance to your favourite holiday songs
  • play mini golf
  • take a walk along the beach
  • have a picnic on the beach and watch the sunset
  • go for coffee, cake and shopping at Mogan Mall

Thousands of people visit Puerto Rico year after year not only for the weather but for the nightlife around Puerto Rico. Head to one of the centers or the marinas and you will find loads of restaurants where you will be able to enjoy a dinner al fresco and sample the good cuisine. You will be spoiled for choice whether you want Canarian or Spanish food, Chinese or Indian, Puerto Rico have something for everyone.

After the meal you can have drink in many of the bars, cocktail bars, disco pubs that are around the resort, if you come with the family don't worry about it most of the bars and discos are family friendly. Another favourite for families is a game in the arcades in the centers or in the nearby mini golf, perfect for those with active kids.

If you want to make the most of the Nightlife in Puerto Rico, the bars and discos in the Europa Center and the Shopping Center Puerto Rico stay open until late. The Shopping Center Puerto Rico is where you will find the only disco in the resort open till 6 am every night of the year.

Shopping in Puerto Rico Gran Canaria

In the last few years the shopping experience in Puerto Rico have changed, a lot.

Two brand new shopping centers opened during 2019: The Market Puerto Rico and Mogan Mall. Mogan Mall is the biggest shopping area in the South of Gran Canaria and is a must visit when you are on holidays in Puerto Rico or the nearest resort.

Things to do in Gran Canaria

There are excursions and things to do outside the resort that we think that are worth mentioning, the main ones are markets, waterparks and shopping.

There is not a market in Puerto Rico, except the farmers market that takes place by the Puerto Rico Shopping Center every two Sundays.

You can also hire a car in Puerto Rico and get to see the island, make your own way to Aqualand or just use it to discover different resorts in Gran Canaria such as Playa del Ingles, Meloneras or Puerto de Mogan. You can see a lot of the island in just one day, if you plan it well.
