Balcon Canario is one of the best Canarian restaurants in Puerto Rico Gran Canaria. The restaurant is located in the Shopping Center Puerto Rico and if you are looking for real Canarian food you will find it at Balcon Canario where you can get the best tapas in Puerto Rico.
We’ve visited numerous times over the years and it’s a clear favourite with everyone you ask. The Shopping Center is currently undergoing a refurbishment but you will be happy to know that Balcon is open and our most recent visit was August 2020.
This was our first visit post-lockdown and we were greeted with smiling eyes and friendly faces as we were given a squirt of hand sanitizer and shown to our table.
The tables and chairs are all spaced out nicely to secure safe distancing and are sanitized after each seating which gives them absolute top marks for hygiene. Staff are all wearing masks too as per the law. The canopies were all lifted up so fresh air could circulate throughout the restaurant and the indoor balcony part of the restaurant was closed off on our visit.
Our new mask rules state that you wear the mask on entering a restaurant or bar until you are seated or if you need to get up for any reason including going to the bathroom. You can take the mask off to consume but it must be put back on if you are not eating or drinking, for example chatting at the table after a meal.
Balcon Canario Food
Since this was our first visit in months, we chose our favourite dishes, the fresh grilled tuna steak and the vueltas a la casera. There’s something so comforting about the food at Balcon Canario. The plates were huge and the tuna was grilled to perfection, it was a melt in your mouth experience.
Balcon Canario Menu
The menu is now a laminated A4 so it’s easy for staff to clean between customers and there’s also the specials board on the wall. Some restaurants have QR codes that you can send to your phone.
Balcon Canario opens every day except Sunday from 08:00 till 02:00, plenty of time to try their fantastic food.
Opening Hours: 8:00AM – 2:00AM (closed Sundays)
