There are two harbours in Puerto Rico Gran Canaria, but they are often mixed up, so we thought we would make them a little more familiar. Both Puerto Rico harbours have plenty to offer in terms of places to stay, restaurants and things to do as are ideally located either side of Puerto Rico beach.

If you want to avoid hills in Puerto Rico, enjoy a relatively flat walk around resort or need something more accessible, then consider both of these locations. Other parts of resort are easily reached by taxi from here.
You can catch ferries at both harbours which go to along the Mogán Coastline, from Puerto de Mogán to Arguineguin.
Puerto Base
Puerto Base right next to Puerto Rico marina is where you can book Spirit of the Sea dolphin and whale watching trip, hop aboard a Blue Bird ferry boat, or go on a fishing trip.
Hotels right on the water include Marina Suites and Morasol Suites with El Rinconcito Canario restaurant a stones throw from both receptions. The tables sit right on the edge of the marina, making it a lovely spot for trying the local cuisine.
Portonovo is a short distance from here (literally across the carpark and road) with Taj Palace Indian Restaurant, Don Quijote, Wig Wam Bar and Elegance Hair and Beauty salon.
If you prefer a mountain view of this harbour, Marina Bayview has a fantastic vista and is close to Las Olas Shopping Center, with more bars, restaurants and shops.
Puerto Base Shopping Center
Through the shaded park area you will come to Puerto Base Shopping Center. There's not much here in terms of shops, but you will find popular restaurants such as Grill Costa Mar, El Barco Pizza Restaurant and Akamiche which is a lovely spot for coffee, lunch and watching the boats.
If you want to book a boat trip then head down here and see what's what, chat to the skippers and set sail. Head to the end of the harbour for seafood and Canarian dishes at Olas Locas Restaurant and enjoy their large open terraza.
Tip: Go up the ramp or stairs at the side of Grill Costa Mar for a full view of Puerto Rico beach and the other harbour, Puerto Escala.
Puerto Escala
At Puerto Escala harbour you can catch a Lineas Salmon ferry boat or head to the end of the jetty to Canary Water Sports and get your adrenaline pumping with parascending, banana boat, jet skis and more!
Passarella Shopping Center
The Passarella Shopping Center is perfect to enjoy some food and drinks after a day on the beach or out at sea. The restaurants have fantastic views of the beach and harbour and there are souvenir shops to grab beach necessities. Cocktails, chill out bars and tasty meals can all be found at this centro comercial.
Popular accommodation on this side of the beach includes XQ Vistamar, El Greco and Punta del Rey. The strip of restaurants by El Greco are some of the best and can get very busy.
At the end of this center you will find the start to the promenade beach walk to Amadores beach. This has stairs and ramp access, it takes about 20 minutes stroll to reach Amadores and vice versa with the Gloria Palace Amadores bar in the middle.
As you can tell there is a lot happening at both Puerto Rico harbours. If you have any questions, or anything to add please let us know in the comment section below and we will get back to you. 😀
