Puerto Rico farmers market happens every two weeks on a Sunday from 08:30 – 14:30h. Located in Puerto Rico park you can enjoy browsing under the lovely tree lined park with live music and the opportunity to purchase fresh produce from the island. This is a small market and nice for a stroll to pass the time on a Sunday morning, there is information about nearby larger markets at the end of this post.
Find quality and well priced goods and fruits such as mango, avocado, bananas, vegetables, honey, wine, cheese, marmalades and plants. There are also handcraft stalls, perfect if you are looking for a unique souvenir.
We headed directly to the Canary Islands natural salt stall which has 3 pots of spices and salt mixes for 10€. The salt is locally sourced and there is every flavour you can think of, even one with a warning as it’s so spicy!
Enjoy some delicious strawberries from the fields of Valsequillo or tempt your taste buds with a freshly made crepe. Olive fans can enjoy locally produced extra virgin olive oil, perfect for a fresh salad.
Tip: Try the guarapo juice, (the juice from the local sugar cane) it’s chopped and juiced fresh to order.
Location: Parque de Puerto Rico
Date: Alternate Sundays
Time: 08:30 – 14:30h
Known locally as Mercado Agrícola de Puerto Rico….
or on the tourist board website “Puerto Rico Agricultural and Craft Market” (we think you will agree that Farmers Market is an easier translation) 😉

Note: The Market Puerto Rico is not a market but a shopping center which is open daily and has a supermarket, shops and places to eat.
If you are looking for bigger markets to look around, you can explore our sister resorts; Puerto de Mogan for their Friday market or Arguineguin for their Tuesday market. You can access both of these by boat, taxi, bus or rentacar.
Puerto de Mogan Market
The famous Puerto de Mogan market is on every Friday from 09:00 – 15:30h. This market has a wide variety of products. Our tip is to make a day of it and go by ferry from Puerto Rico harbour. Away from the market stalls you can explore the pretty buganvilla lined side streets and local food in one of the many restaurants.
Location: From Los Marreros Avenue, the top of the car park, Pedro Betancort Square and Castillete esplanade.
Date: Every Friday
Time: 09:00 – 15:30h
Arguineguin market is on every Tuesday from 08:30 – 15:00h. Located just 10 minutes away from Puerto Rico, you will be there in no time. Check out the market in the main square of Plaza Negra, followed by sunbathing at El Perchel beach or food and drinks at one of the local bars.
Location: Plaza Negra, Arguineguin
Date: Every Tuesday
Time: 08:30 – 15:00h
