What does Puerto Rico Shopping Center look like August 2021?

Buenos días! Today we took a nice morning walk through Puerto Rico Shopping Center. Many of you have been asking what it looks like now (as of August 2021), if it’s busy, what’s open and so on.

At the time we took these pics, many people will have been at the pool or beach. We are in some strange times so obviously it’s not going to look as busy as August 2019 pre-pandemic but we are getting there.

After a nice power coffee at Coco’s Bar we headed through the middle of the center to check out what was open and were very happy to see San Miguel Restaurant which opens 17:00 – 23:00 everyday (closed Mondays)

The new Puerto Rico Shopping Center logo can now be found around the center. Maybe people will stop calling it ‘the old center’ now. 😜 The only annoying thing is the huge iconic green and yellow Shopping Center sign has been left with one white letter ‘R’ for months. 😂

It seems there has been some delay on signage in general, so some restaurants have invested in canopy style signs. San Miguel had a lovely wooden sign, so we wonder if all establishments will have something similar once the last few bits are finished off.

On The Rocks Bar is a popular choice for many to sit al fresco near to the entrance of the center and is handy near to the ramp.

Hiperdino supermarket at the front is open everyday 08:00 – 22:00. It’s great for any holiday snacks or shopping you may need and is close to the taxi rank for getting back to your accommodation.

Pico d’ Oro Steakhouse (formerly Sabidan)

Next door we have Pico d’ Oro Steak House fondly remembered as Sabidan restaurant. We have been asked several times about this restaurant as it was a very popular place to sit outside and people watch. We’ve had many takeaway rotisserie chickens and salad from here over the years so it was nice to see it open again with customers sitting outside.

Around the corner from Pico d’Oro we have the taxi rank and a new food and cocktail bar called The Roof which you may remember as The Royal Oak. Above is Dicey Reilly’s, Tiffany’s Bar next door, below that is London Kebab.

We will be reviewing and trying out all the new and improved places soon so we can update our website. Great excuse eh? 😂

We hope you enjoyed this photo tour of the center. Let us know in the comments what you think of the changes.
